Autumn Broadwater sun

Two-wheel transport is a blessing in winter and curse in summer. With a little passenger on board, it becomes a pod for conversation, to greet the seasons together and an education into the aesthetic of the built environment. Today in the autumnal subtropical morning – enough to still singe most Europeans – is a reason to be alive.

The Broadwater is in applause of light and shadow, and the air has been scrubbed clean overnight.

We salute our shadow-selves and marvel at how they can so quickly follow us over grass, concrete and bitumen. A little silhouette hand gives a wave. "Hello shadow", "You are just fast as us." "Are you coming to swimming lessons too?" "Daddy shadow is good at peddling. And farting too." We both chuckle as we are all swallowed by the shade of a sprawling ficus.
For most mornings, this is how we roll.
