Welcome to my blog.
For all intents and purposes, this blog started out in 2007 with a primary focus on wine, but it has now grown voluminously since then.
My matter of subject is now Eat, Drink, and Think. From here we follow many paths of derivatives.
I was born in Perth, Western Australia of both Anglo-Burmese parents.
I suppose that makes me an ABAB (Australian Born Anglo-Burmese), but really I consider myself like most Australian born Asians—Australian.
I originally did my study in BSc in Viticulture and Oenology (Wine Science) from Margaret River Centre of Wine Excellence.
It was a three year organic-chem-micro-biol-monday-morning-wine-swilling-slog. I then stumbled into (wine) writing as a way to communicate beyond the glass, and given we often eat while drinking, started writing about food too.
I then resumed studentdom with a year of penance in post grad studies (Professional Writing and Publishing) and this made me realise that a career in writing/ editing was the closest thing to a tasting plate of vocations.
So food and wine became the original focus. But what is the value of text, if not accompanied with good photos?
Thus I periled into another career offshoot--photography. This has lead to a financially unfair obsession into optical glass. I take all the photos you see on this blog and painstakingly post-process them (or not) with (sh)utter love.
My current role is editor-in-chief for a non-profit Gov-funded online science publication.
This has made me value the importance of science in our daily lives, and that science, design, and economy IS the undercurrent for a self-perpetuating, non-destructive, ethical society.
These themes will surface in the blog--it’s about things that I think other people would like to know about.
It is about life as subjective as it comes, and to deliciously enjoy.
Cheers,
